About the event

Off Duty: A Day to Rest, Receive, and Restore

Monday, November 16th, 10am-4:15pm

When everyone else is off, you’re often on. This day is for you.

Off Duty is a restorative Monday retreat created especially with hospitality and food-service professionals in mind — a day to step away from serving, solving, anticipating and caring for everyone else.

Come be the one who is cared for.

Through nature, nourishing food, Yoga Nidra, sound healing and spacious rest, spend the day doing less, receiving more, and remembering that rest does not have to be earned.

If you spend your working life taking care of other people, there aren't many days designed around taking care of you.

Hospitality and food-service work asks a particular kind of energy from us: anticipating what people need, staying present, solving problems, moving quickly, remaining gracious, and often working hardest while everyone else is enjoying their time off.

For this day, you get to be off duty.

This restorative day retreat is an invitation to step out of responsibility and into a slower rhythm of being cared for.

We'll spend the day moving gradually from doing into receiving through gentle embodied practices, quiet time in nature, a Gathering & Release ritual, a nourishing lunch, deeply restful Yoga Nidra, and an extended sound healing session.

Give yourself permission to slow down here.

You don't need to perform, improve yourself, take care of anyone else, or make the most of every minute.

You can simply arrive.

Let your nervous system soften. Let your body become heavy. Let somebody else prepare lunch.

And for a few hours, let yourself be the one who is held.

Monday, November 16 — Off Duty

10:00–10:30 | Arrival + Clocking Out

Tea, settling in and a simple opening ritual. Guests will be invited to name something they are “off duty” from for the day — responsibility, caretaking, productivity, problem-solving or simply being available to everyone else.

10:30–11:15 | Gentle Embodied Unwinding

A slow, accessible practice using gentle movement, stretching, breath and grounding to help the body transition out of work mode and into rest.

11:15–12:15 | Gathering & Release Nature Ritual

A slow wander through the land with an invitation to find two fallen natural objects: one representing something worth carrying forward and one representing something ready to be put down. We’ll gather afterward for a simple release ritual and reflection.

12:15–1:15 | Nourishing Lunch

Sit down. Eat slowly. Let somebody else prepare the food.

No rushing. No clearing the table. No taking care of everyone else.

1:15–1:45 | Permission to Do Nothing

Unstructured time to wander, sit beside the water, journal, drink tea, lie down or simply do absolutely nothing.

1:45–2:30 | Yoga Nidra

A deeply restorative guided practice centered around receiving support, letting go of effort and allowing the body to rest.

2:30–2:45 | Tea + Quiet Transition

2:45–3:45 | Sound Healing Journey

An extended immersive sound experience with crystal and Himalayan bowls, gongs, voice, harmonium and other instruments designed to encourage deep relaxation and a shift away from the constant stimulation of everyday life.

3:45–4:15 | Integration + Clocking Back In Differently

We’ll revisit the morning’s intention and reflect on one important question:

What do I not want to automatically pick back up when I leave?

Overnight rooms available to linger longer!
