About the event

Grief touches our hearts through the loss of a loved one, a relationship ending, a surgery, a life change like a job or a move; grief is even present in joyous changes too, when we grieve the change of what once was, or when life presents us with outcomes different from what we expected. Grief lives within us even if we don't sit with it daily.

Dawn has worked with grief support circles utilizing sound healing instruments to help support the nervous system and biofield in integrating life changes. She led a weekly grief support sound healing for 4 years and many who attended said it was the addition of sound healing to their lives that helped the most of many things they tried. Sound healing helps to give your body, mind, and spirit the pause needed to integrate life's plot twists. This is also an opening to experience the love within you and around you, and even the presence and support of a departed loved one.

This sound healing session is not solely for grief, so please feel free to join if you would like to come relax and expand into your greatest expression or work with any emotion. Dawn loves to facilitate sound healing sessions to help bring even more light to your life.

Two poems dear to Dawn's heart speaking to Grief:

 For Grief by John O’Donohue

When you lose someone you love,

Your life becomes strange,

The ground beneath you becomes fragile,

Your thoughts make your eyes unsure;

And some dead echo drags your voice down

Where words have no confidence

Your heart has grown heavy with loss;

And though this loss has wounded others too,

No one knows what has been taken from you

When the silence of absence deepens.

Flickers of guilt kindle regret

For all that was left unsaid or undone.

There are days when you wake up happy;

Again inside the fullness of life,

Until the moment breaks

And you are thrown back

Onto the black tide of loss.

Days when you have your heart back,

You are able to function well

Until in the middle of work or encounter,

Suddenly with no warning,

You are ambushed by grief.

It becomes hard to trust yourself.

All you can depend on now is that

Sorrow will remain faithful to itself.

More than you, it knows its way

And will find the right time

To pull and pull the rope of grief

Until that coiled hill of tears

Has reduced to its last drop.

Gradually, you will learn acquaintance

With the invisible form of your departed;

And when the work of grief is done,

The wound of loss will heal

And you will have learned

To wean your eyes

From that gap in the air

And be able to enter the hearth

In your soul where your loved one

Has awaited your return

All the time.

In Blackwater Woods by Mary Oliver

Look, the trees

are turning

their own bodies

into pillars

of light,

are giving off the rich

fragrance of cinnamon

and fulfillment,

the long tapers

of cattails

are bursting and floating away over

the blue shoulders

of the ponds,

and every pond,

no matter what its

name is, is

nameless now.

Every year

everything

I have ever learned

in my lifetime

leads back to this: the fires

and the black river of loss

whose other side

is salvation,

whose meaning

none of us will ever know.

To live in this world

you must be able

to do three things:

to love what is mortal;

to hold it

against your bones knowing

your own life depends on it;

and, when the time comes to let it go,

to let it go.

  • Looking for a Light at the end of the tunnel?
  • Feeling anxious, sad, grieving, burnt out, or overwhelmed?
  • Feeling stuck, run by the outside world, or like you need some support?
  • Wish you could put your brain in a jar and screw the lid on tight to be able to have some peace and quiet?!

WHAT IS SOUND HEALING?

Sound Healing is medicine for our times. Sound vibration, as one of our earliest developed senses, helps the body and spirit to find peace and relaxation. It facilitates relaxation using instruments like gongs, crystal singing bowls, harmonium, voice, and more. Our bodies often get stuck in the everyday whirrings of life and fight or flight and thus have trouble finding a reset. Sound Healing helps the brain & body relax and helps you find peace. All you have to do is lay back, relax, and breathe!

WHAT TO EXPECT & POLICIES

Here are the basics: PLEASE ARRIVE NO LATER THAN 11AM / 2PM / 6PM (depending on the session time you scheduled)--come up to 15 minutes early to not be stressed and have time to find the place if this is your first time here and to settle in. This is an experience to which you cannot be late....(if you are late, then the whole group is waiting on you to arrive; it is disruptive for anyone to enter the sound healing room after we have built the container of who is present and we share intentions. Please be respectful of your fellow earth travelers who have arrived on time. Plus, who wants to be stressed out about arriving late to a RELAXING experience?! :) ) Once the doors are locked, unfortunately you will miss out. Please communicate with Dawn if something happens. Allow time for travel, you can arrive early to walk the peaceful property, and enjoy a cup of tea. At the scheduled time (11am / 2pm / 6pm), we enter the sound room, get comfy with pillows, blankets, and supports, and then share intentions for the session. Then sound healing session begins and lasts for 60 glorious minutes. The last half hour allows us time to integrate, awaken to a life post-gong, and to be ok to "gong and drive" (unless you'd like to stay overnight in one of the rentals!)

More details:

Arrive and settle in with a cup of tea and cozy in to your space on cushions in the sound healing room.  First we voice intentions for the session and tailor the session to your needs even in a group.  Release stress and tension through a gentle breathwork exercise that relaxes the body.  Then take a journey in sound with gongs, crystal singing bowls, harmonium and voice, and more.  Feel free to chant along with Dawn and the harmonium! After the sound healing, we invite you to share your experience and connect with other like-minded new friends. Feel free to arrive early or stay later to walk around the peaceful, healing property as well!

Bring any cushions, pillows, blankets, and eye covers to be comfortable.  We have a collection available and have memory foam cushions lining the whole floor for use and ease for you as well.
